The Egyptian center demand release of the arrested colleagues from EIPR

The Egyptian Centre for Economic and Political Right follows, with great concern, the arrests of a number of human rights advocates from the “Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights” team, and the most recent arrest of Mr. Gasser Abdul Raziq, director of the Initiative, on November 19th. This event comes after the arrest of Karim Annara, head of criminal justice unite, which was precedented by the arrest if Mohamed Bashir, administrative director, last week.
The three of them appeared before the prosecution in different sessions and they were all interrogated under case no. 855 year 2020 SSS. The charges were: joining a banned group – publishing false news. The prosecution decided to imprison them for 15 years pending investigation.
The Egyptian Centre expresses its discomfort and deep concern in relation to such events and acknowledges its unconditional solidarity with the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights and its team.
We implore all competent parties to interfere for putting an end to this and release the arrested colleagues.
