Damanhour Criminal Court postpones the trial of 20 workers from the Kafr El Dawar Spinning and Weaving Factory to a hearing next December 27 to implement the defendants’ defense requests

26 November, the 14th Felonies Department of Damanhour in the Beheira Governorate considered the first trial sessions of 20 workers at the Kafr al-Dawar Spinning and Weaving Factory in Case No. 9380 of 2020 Felonies of the Kafr al-Dawar Department, in which the Public Prosecution charged 20 workers from the aforementioned factory with several charges, including disrupting production means, refraining from performing their job duties and harming the interests of their work, displaying power, threatening violence, gathering, demonstrating against the law, insulting the chairman of the company’s board of directors, and destroying and sabotaging. It is worth mentioning that the incident dates back to April 15, 2020 after a disagreement occurred between the company’s administration and the company’s trade union committee regarding fixing the dates for paying workers’ wages and the union’s objection to scrapping some production tools in a matter that threatens its continuation, and the company’s administration’s rejection of the union’s demands, and against the backdrop of fabricated altercations, the company’s management filed a complaint to the Public Prosecution against 20 workers of the company’s factory who were referred to the Criminal Court, which ruled in absentia to punish them with life imprisonment. Its first session was yesterday, Thursday, November 26, in which a defense team for the defendants attended, including the lawyers of the Center and layers Taher Abu Al-Nasr, lawyer and legal advisor, which issued its aforementioned decision.
