The Administrative Court in Al Rehab City will hear tomorrow, Sunday, April 7, 2024, lawsuit No. 27071 of the jud8cial year 68, regarding the suspension of the negative decision to refrain from forming a technical, financial, and legal committee tasked with reassessing the price of ”white taxi” cars that are delivered to drivers as replacements for their old cars.
Lawyers representing the Egyptian Center for Economic and Social Rights, on behalf of a group of white taxi drivers and owners, filed the lawsuit against the President, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Local Development, the Minister of Environment, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fund for Financing the Purchase of Some Vehicles for Rapid Transport, the legal representative of Banque Misr, the legal representative of Banque Alexandria, the legal representative of Banque du Caire, the legal representative of Banque Nasser Social Bank, the legal representative of Egypt Insurance Company, the General Tax Authority, the Customs Authority, and several car companies involved in the project to replace and renew white taxis.
The lawsuit demanded the suspension of the negative decision to refrain from forming a technical, financial, and legal committee tasked with reassessing the price of the new “white taxi” car delivered to drivers as replacements for their old cars, specifying in this reassessment the actual price at which the new car is sold to any consumer in the Egyptian market, along with clarifying the equivalent monetary value of the benefits and support provided by the state to project participants, resulting in, among other things, the re-pricing of the new car based on this assessment.
