The General Prosecutor in West Alexandria decided on Thursday to release labor leader Shady Mohamed under the guarantee of his place of residence, after being imprisoned pending investigations in Case No.10233 of 2022.

It is worth mentioning that Shady Mohamed is the confounder of the Permanent Conference of Alexandria Workers and a trade union leader in the independent syndicate of Nile Lenin Group, then he was recently imprisoned under the allegation of joining a terrorist group, and spreading false news, after being arrested from inside the Company’s bus on October 3, 2022.

The following day, he was brought before Ad Dakhilah Prosecution pending investigations in Case No.10233 of 2022 Ad Dakhilah Administration. He remained in pretrial detention till he was released. His actual accusation was his trade union activity through defending his colleagues against the Company’s Administration of Lenin Group which was led to being arbitrary dismissal from his work, and subsequently filed a lawsuit against the company regarding the decision to dismiss him.

In Alexandria, the labor leader’s wife, Salwa Rasheed, denied his connection with any political or religious group, stressing that “his actual accusation was his activity in labor and trade union fields”.

Shady Mohamed was one of trade union leaders in Lenin Group Company for furniture and textiles in the free zone of Amreya City in Alexandria before being arbitrary dismissed from the Company in 2019 under the pretext of being absent from work for his participation in the workers’ protests against the policies of the Company’s Administration. Then he submitted a compensation lawsuit due to his arbitrary dismissal, which is still being considered before the court till now.
