The Egyptian Center Secures a Ruling Mandating “Al-Treeq” Newspaper to Compensate Journalist with EGP 187,000 for Arbitrary Dismissal
The Egyptian Center for Economic and Social Rights (ECESR) has obtained a ruling awarding a journalist approximately EGP 187,000 for arbitrary dismissal.
In labor lawsuit No.1966 of 2023, North Giza, Full Court, Labor Circuit 2, dated Thursday, 27 June 2024.
The labor court awarded compensation to the plaintiff, Somaya A.M. (a journalist), against the legal representative of “Al-Treeq” newspaper, published by Al-Safwa for Journalism, Printing, and Publishing, in labor lawsuit No. 1966 of 2023, North Giza, Full Bench, Labor Division 2.
The court affirmed the plaintiff’s right to total compensation amounting to EGP 186,700 (one hundred eighty-six thousand seven hundred pounds) for arbitrary dismissal, notice period compensation, unpaid salary for the last two years, and accrued leave balance.
