Detained Since July: Four Defendants’ Detention Extended for 15 Days Over Social Media Posts on Living Cost Increases

On Sunday, November 10, 2024, the State Security Prosecution extended the detention of Islam Mahmoud Abdelaziz, Abdelaziz Ramadan Ali, Tamer Moawad Eid, and Mohamed Awad Abdelaziz for an additional 15 days in connection with Case No. 3434 of 2024 under the State Security docket.

The defendants, arrested in July, face charges related to social media posts addressing rising living costs and inflation. The prosecution has accused them of joining a banned organization, spreading false news and information, and misusing social media platforms.
