Criminal Justice | ECESR Gains Acquittal for 12 Minors Detained on 25 January
Yesterday, lawyer of the Egyptian Center for Economic and Social Rights (ECESR) gained acquittal for 12 minors randomly detained in downtown Cairo on 25 January, the fourth anniversary of the revolution.
The minors were detained with 80 others randomly from the streets around the Journalists Syndicate headquarters and Abdel-Monem Riad Square after the dispersal of a stand organized by the families of revolution martyrs and casualties. Those detained were charged with protesting and congregation (case 845 of 2015 Qasr-El-Nil Misdemeanors), including the 12 minors (case 268 of 2015 Minor Misdemeanors). The acquittal ruling was issued on March 1st, after more than a month of detention.
