Court Orders Civil Society Organization to Compensate Supervisor Over EGP 55,000 for Arbitrary Dismissal

The 17th Labor Chamber of the South Cairo Primary Court has ordered the National Foundation for Family and Community Development to compensate Ms. Amal F.A. with more than EGP 55,000 for material and moral damages following her arbitrary dismissal.
The lawsuit, filed as Case No. 1274 of 2024, revealed that Ms. Amal began working as a supervisor on April 1, 2019, under a fixed-term contract ending on March 31, 2020. However, the organization continued her employment without renewing or terminating the contract, converting it into an indefinite-term agreement.
On April 1, 2024, she was unexpectedly barred from her workplace without cause. She immediately reported the incident by filing Police Report No. 5506 at the Al-Marg Police Station. Despite her repeated attempts to seek clarification and a resolution, the organization remained unresponsive.
After filing a complaint with the Old Cairo Labor Office and exhausting reconciliation efforts, the case proceeded to court. On December 19, 2024, the court ruled in Ms. Amal’s favor, awarding her over EGP 55,000 in damages and ordering the organization to issue an employment certificate in accordance with Article 130 of the Labor Law.
