“Cargill” Management Sacks Workers, Pays no Attention to Their Demands
The management of the National Company for Vegetable Oils “Cargill” decided to dismiss 9 new workers, bringing the total number of laid-off workers to 21 out of 83 workers. This arbitrary measure has been taken in response to the workers’ protest against the administration policy and their list of demands.
The workers have begun an open-ended sit-in since 14 December last year and to be continued until the following demands are met, namely:
- Lifting the sanctions taken against workers in the recent period.
- Implementing the terms of the agreement signed on 01/04/2013.
- Puting company regulations into effect.
- Concluding a collective labor agreement between the workers and the company’s board.
- The application of the law with regard to the concept of gross pay on which the profits are calculated.
- Identifying a particular person of the Board of Directors (the Egyptian branch) to deal with workers’ problems and to be duly authorized to solve them.
- Halting immediately the intransigence of management with staff.
- Disbursing hazard allowance to workers.
