The Child Misdemeanor Court in Cairo acquitted today all the defendants in the misdemeanor No. 187 for the year 2014. The acquitted defendants are: Basant Saad Hassanein, Fatin Mohammed Ahmed, Mai Hamid Mohammed, Saif Nasir Mahmood, Mustafa Mamdouh Abdel Aziz, Mustafa Abdullah Mustafa, Islam Magdy Mahmoud, Islam Mustafa Faraj, Mohammad Ashraf Mohammed, Mahmoud Osama Suleiman, Alaa Nasser Ibrahim, Omar Abdel-Aziz Sayyed, Shaaban Faraj Sayyed, Abdul Rahman Adli Abdul Rahman, Shamsuddin Saad Suleiman, Mohammed Omar Abdel-Fattah, Gamal al-Din Hisham Muhammad, and Mahmoud Ahmed Mustafa.

It is noteworthy that the case of Revolutionary Oltras is related to the young people arrested in Cairo-based Horia Park on 15 January 2014. While the minor defendants were acquitted, the other adult ones’ case is still heard before the Court of Qasr al-Nil Misdemeanors. The case has been registered under 633 for the year 2014 and with 15 defendants. It is postponed to February 22, 2014.

While the ECESR welcomes the acquittal decision of minor defendants, it calls for acquitting and releasing the adult defendants in the aforementioned case and all persons, especially the students, in pre-trial detention in cases with political background.
