The detention of four defendants has been renewed for an additional 15 days over social media posts addressing the rising cost of living

The State Security Prosecution decided on Sunday, October 13, 2024, to extend the detention of Islam Mahmoud Abdelaziz, Abdelaziz Ramadan Ali, Tamer Moawad Eid, and Mohamed Awad Abdelaziz for an additional 15 days, pending investigation in Case No. 3434 of 2024, overseen by the State Security Prosecution.

It is noteworthy that the defendants were arrested last July in connection with social media posts concerning the rising cost of living and increasing prices.

The prosecution has charged the defendants with membership in a banned organization, spreading false news and information, and misusing social media platforms.
