Criminal justice | Ahmed Doma Served 3 Years Imprisonment, Fined LE 10,000 for Contempt of Court

The Fifth Circuit of Giza Criminal Court (Terrorism) sentenced Ahmed Doma to 3 years imprisonment and a fine of LE 10 thousand for contempt of court. The ruling was based on the question asked by Doma to the judge Naji Shehata about whether he had a personal account on Facebook on which he posts his politically biased views.

The court also decided to postpone the case to February 4 for oral hearing. It emphasized on the presence of the assigned counsel and on notifying the original defense team to attend, if they wish. It is noteworthy that Doma’s lawyers refused to appear before the judge after a statement released by the Bar Association, which prevented any lawyer from attending the court hearings due to the gross violations of the proceedings committed by the bench.
