{"id":775065,"date":"2023-10-30T20:39:18","date_gmt":"2023-10-30T18:39:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecesr.org\/en\/?p=775065"},"modified":"2023-10-30T20:39:18","modified_gmt":"2023-10-30T18:39:18","slug":"releasing-a-singer-and-blogger-after-3-months-of-arrest-due-to-writing-a-tweet-criticizing-the-increased-prices-of-some-goods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ecesr.org\/en\/releasing-a-singer-and-blogger-after-3-months-of-arrest-due-to-writing-a-tweet-criticizing-the-increased-prices-of-some-goods\/","title":{"rendered":"Releasing a singer and blogger after 3 months of detention due to writing a tweet criticizing the increased prices of some goods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A tiktok singer and blogger was released from Hadaeq Al Qubbah, after the lawyers of the Egyptian Center for Economic and Social Rights (ECESR) received a ruling issued by Circuit No.16 of North Cairo Criminal Court to release her in Case No.7962 of 2023 Hadaeq Al Qubbah Misdemeanor, on the background of publishing a video criticizing the increased prices of some goods.<\/p>\n<p>On August 11, 2023, the aforementioned singer had been arrested, and the public Prosecution charged her with joining a terrorist group, using her personal account on Tiktok to spread materials and phrases which included mockery against State\u2019s Institutions to stir up the Country\u2019s public opinion, and create a state of confusion among citizen..<\/p>\n<p>On October 24, 2023 the Center\u2019s lawyers attended with the defendant before Hadaeq Al Qubbah Apellant Misdemeanor in the Advisory Chamber, and argued that the charges are invalid, explaining that she is a Musicians Syndicate\u2019s member and holds a singer\u2019s card. After the pleadings and submitting documents, the Court decided to release her on a bail of 5000EGP, before the Prosecution appealed the decision.<\/p>\n<p>Then the appeal was considered before Circuit No.16 of North Cairo CriminaCriminal on October 26, 2023, and the Center\u2019s lawyer attended while asking for rejecting the Public Prosecution\u2019s appeal and supporting the decision issued to release the defendant after his argument for defense and documents proving the actual circumstances of the incident. Accordingly, the Court decided to reject the Prosecution\u2019s appeal, and support the decision to release her.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A
